fall into the gap
this is a special weekend recap post because i'm recapping last thursday night as well as my weekend because what happened to me on thursday is just too good to pass up.
a fabulously friendly woman named justine from the LA based brand about town contacted me and a couple of other cleveland based blogs on behalf of the gap. yes, THE gap. basically justine has been traveling around the country talking to a select group of bloggers looking to choose some as 'gap brand enthusiasts'.
funny the way that worked out because i just so happened to work at gap for almost five years. it was my first job at 17 and to say i drank the kool-aid during my time there would be an understatement. i thought (and still think) the gap was the coooooooolest.
so you could say i was excited when i got the email, and more than willing to meet up with justine and see what she had to say.
we talked about the gap brand enthusiast opportunity and what it would entail if i was lucky enough to be picked all of which sound amazing and right up my alley. but what else happen during that meeting was an awesome mini shopping spree courtesy of the gap where i picked up this, this and this.
and to think some people ask me why i blog. hello! for opportunities just like this - that and to feed my ego. (kidding, KIDDING.)
friday night my sissy came to cleveland and her and i, the klutz and c-rossi squared went to la strada on east 4th for dinner. we sat at the chef's table and drank a bottle of wine a piece all while having an excellent meal - with one snafu...
it took an exceptionally long amount of time for us to receive our dinners which didn't really bother us because we were having such a good time drinking wine and visiting with each other. when the entrees finally started being delivered everyone received their meal except myself and my sister who both ordered the chicken special.
now remember, we were sitting at the chef's table which is right next to the open kitchen so we could see everything that was going on, and basically they forgot to make our meals. but i'm still not really mad at this point, because well mistakes happen.
when i saw one of the chefs run out the front door and three minutes later come back with a bunch of asparagus i still wasn't mad. but after about 15 more minutes and everyone else at our table having an almost completed meal but my sissy and i was when i started to get agitated.
but then the meal came...
and it was one of the best meals i have had in a ridiculously long time. it was a chicken breast stuffed with fontina cheese, spinach and something and wrapped in bacon served on a sweet buttery squash corn combo. SO GOOD. so good i'm going to call and see when it is going to be a special again.
but the excellence of the meal doesn't make up for lack of service/timing and it would have been nice for them to comp one of the meals, offer a dessert or something other than "oh, sorry we forgot to make your meals", (even though it was the ONLY ticket in the window) - seems like simple customer service in my opinion.
whatevs.
after dinner we made our way to maproom where my drink of choice (which is suddenly becoming the norm), was patron xo on the rocks. but who the hell do i think i am though for being able to just sip onsome multiple tequilas?
alexa friggin' marinos that's who.
saturday i was LAZY. watching too many HIMYM episodes to count, went to the grocery and saw The Proposal with the klutz. soooooo cute, and i'm not just talking about ryan reynolds who i have been in lust with since Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place. i'm a sucker for a good rom-com and this movie filled the need so much so that i saw it twice this weekend.
twice.
sunday my mom and sissy came back up to cleveland to hangout with me. we went and saw two movies - The Hangover and The Proposal. the hangover? hilarious, but i'm sure you guys already know that already. and "fat jesus"? he's the only greek man i would consider sleeping with. i have eclectic taste what can i say?
and that's a wrap.
hope you all had a great weekend too!
